Nature from the Sea

Children's House and Lower Elementary students observed a variety of nature items in Mrs Baumgarten's collection. This activity focused on the diversity of life and the wonder of the real world. Whether the inner spiral shape of a whelk shell or the amazingly tiny baby whelk in a whelk egg case, the wonders of nature never cease to pique the interest of children. Touching, talking about, and sharing abalone shells, skate eggs, whale baleen, turtle shells, or simply handling and sorting a variety of seashells allow children to develop their sense of wonder as they follow their explorations.
