Spring To Summer Transition

The last week of school, all of the children were given the opportunity to celebrate the Sustainable garden by tasting some vegetables that were growing in the garden. Since we did not have the volume necessary, lettuce and sugar peas from a local garden (Glenside), and purchased organic cherry tomatoes substituted. Children's House students visited the garden and noticed the growing pepper, green tomatoes, onions and marigolds.  Upper Elementary and Lower Elementary students visited the garden during their recess time, noticing the changes, pulling weeds, and searching for new growth in the tomato plants, peppers or eggplants.

During the summer months, summer camp will be taking care of the garden. Parents and families of The Montessori School are welcome to help. Contact the school office if you would like to visit the garden, weed or water it, or help harvest vegetables as they are ready. There should be plenty of tomatoes, peppers and zucchini, as well as other produce. We are planning for harvesting from the sustainable garden when school opens in the fall!

See you then!  Dottie
